5Easy to install, low overhead, and effective protection
By Bob Tobias
In the past few years I've used several flavors of both Norton and Kaspersky to provide computer protection.
Both companies provided products that worked well but I felt they each contributed to overhead I didn't need. The rich feature set, colorful graphics, and elaborate reports are all nice things except I wasn't using them.

This year, as my current Kaspersky subscription was running out, I wanted to try something with a considerably smaller footprint. It seems the universe was guiding me toward this product. I just purchased a new computer that came pre-loaded with McAfee (which after two days decided to block all Internet activity), and have recently read and heard lots of good things about Trend Micro as being an effective protection suite without a lot of additional frills.

All in all, the Universe made a good choice.

Trend Micro installed quickly and easily on my relatively new machine running 64-bit Windows 7. It recognized that MacAfee was already there and took care of uninstalling it for me. The same is true when I installed it on a two year old 32-bit Windows 7 netbook running Kaspersky. Once installed it has proven to be the lightest weight (in a good way) virus protection program I've used.

Missing are fancy world maps, tons of reports, almost limitless tabs and configuration options, and features such as a virtual keyboard and software sandbox.

What it does offer, in addition to seamless and nearly invisible virus, malware, and spam protection, are some optional capabilities including scheduled PC tune ups, blocking personal data from being taken, enforcing parental controls if I choose, and permanently erase files.

Bottom line is this seems to be a very nice computer defense option for those of us who want a good level of protection without spending a lot of time configuring the software or tolerating additional, and possibly for many needless, overhead.

Finally, if you're not sure, you can always go to the company website, TrendMicro dot com, and download a fully-functional 30-day trial. A nice touch is that if you wind up buying the product within the 30 days all you need to do is input the software key you get and don't need to fiddle with any more installations.

5Solid security so far
By S. Holsey
I decided to purchase the Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013 because my Norton Internet Security 2012 was expiring in 7 days, and the reviews that I read on the 2013 version of NIS were not good.

I installed the Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013 yesterday without any issues and ran a scan and found a Trojan that apparently my NIS did not detect.

The program interface is easy to read/navigate and the security so far appears to be top notch. With more security features than my old NIS, such as Facebook security check, and an additional shred/delete feature as opposed to just tossing your files into the windows recycle bin. Also Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013 scans internet links while browsing web pages and gives you an indication of link security so you'll know whether or not a click-able URL link is safe to use.

No sluggish or system slow down thus far.

So far, glad I decided to choose Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2013

I HIGHLY recommend Trend Micro System's security software. It does not slow the computer down and is easy to understand and use.
