PC and Mac protection good; mobile support basic at best

Multi-device protects Windows and Mac PCs, and Android and Apple IOS tablets and phones. It covers up to 5 devices for 1 year. It is perfect for a Mac owner like me who also runs Windows programs under VMware Fusion, because a Windows VM still needs protection from the bad guys.
On Windows, you get Norton 360 -- which to me is the best Windows protection available: fast, strong in-depth protection and tune-up. It installs in less than 60 seconds (hard to believe, but I timed it) without a reboot and protects against known and unknown viruses and threats. Known viruses are detected using signatures, which is still a great way to catch dodgy attachments from would-be scammers in email. It also "crowd sources" threat intelligence about lesser known programs from all 100m+ Norton users, which provides a fast way to detect scam-ware and other stuff that you find all over the Internet. It also watches how programs try to access your system and flags programs that try to exploit known vulnerabilities -- whether or not they have a virus signature. This catches bad stuff that mutates its code to avoid detection, as well as new, unknown malware. You also get solid tune-up (disk defrag, registry clean-up) and backup capabilities included, along with some free online backup storage. I haven't tried the backup capability.
On a Mac, capabilities are less rich. You do get a very good Firewall capability that screens out the bad stuff and allows you to control how programs access the Internet. You also get full virus scanning -- both Mac and Windows viruses, which is very helpful when exchanging things like Word documents with Windows users. These file can still contain malicious code. It will also scan your Facebook wall for malicious links and scamware. It is nowhere near as full featured as the Windows version, but it does a good job of the basics.
On the iPhone or other Apple device, you get the ability to track, trace and remotely wipe your device, and to back up contacts. All of these functions are built into the iPhone already when using Apple iCloud, so there really isn't much added value here. In fact, battery life will be shorter because the Norton app keeps the GPS enabled 100% of the time to build a trace of the phone's location over time. Although iCloud doesn't offer this, I really didn't see the value and turned that off. In fact, I don't run the Norton IOS app any more because it doesn't add value. If you download the additional Norton Identity Safe app it will keep user names and passwords safe. Integration with other apps on the iPhone is poor, however, and I just didn't use this app very much. If you have a hard time remembering passwords it could be very useful.
On Android, you get similar features to IOS: "find my phone", contact backup and remote wipe capability. "Find my phone" hasn't been a feature of Android in the past, though I understand it has been added to the latest release. Again, there is not much here.
Overall, I found the ability to protect both Mac and PC with one product really useful. The IOS and Android apps are, to me at least, not worth the trouble -- especially when they decrease battery life.

Easy easy easy, but does chug memory on phones!

Norton multi-platform is another great release by Symantec. It doesn't have the weird permissions like McAfee does. (Seriously, has anyone tried uninstalling McAfee? It's a CHORE.) The software is easy to use. I have it installed on my work PC with Windows 7, my laptop with Windows Vista, my Nexus 7 tablet, and my Samsung Galaxy S3. The only issue is that on the smart phone it does take a bit of the RAM and there is a little bit of slowdown when opening new pages (I figure the Norton software is just verifying the site credentials).
Though online browsing doesn't seem to be targeted highly for viruses yet, it's only a matter of time. So many mobile users don't have any protection, and if something happens to your phone, you might not be able to even send or receive calls or text! Again, nothing too scary yet... But I have a T-mobile unlimited plan so I use my phone as my internet source. I root the phone's 4g for wi-fi use for the Nexus tablet. So I am online a lot. Chrome is my standard browser, so I don't seem to have too many issues with viruses... but spyware and such is a bit of a concern. Gladly a quick scan and clean with Norton takes care of most little hijackers and trojans.
Norton has been the best paid anti-virus in my opinion for years (ever since Windows 95 I have used it). Otherwise, Spybot is a great adware removal program for computers, and Avast has served me well for free anti-virus software. But with Norton you also have additional tools, such as disk cleanups and backups and such. A complete safety net for your devices. Hopefully one will never need the "holy crap" software services Norton provides, but it's good to know it's there. Just in case.

Quick and efficient

My McAfee was going to expire and my work has been happy with the results from Norton 360, so thought I'd give it a try. 5 Devices covered for a year, what a deal.
Of course upon installation, McAfee's clinging on for life with, 'Are you sure you want to delete,' pop ups and etc, YES!
Once loaded which was quick, runs smoothly, and isn't a memory hog. Love how you can run diag, disk and reg. cleanup all in one place, gives you the report what it did clean up and can schedule them to run weekly for example, as well.
I was able to install on other PCs with the CD or download from the Norton site after I registered with them. One is a XP netbook so that was great since no cd drive on that one. 2 PCs running Win 7, a XP laptop and the netbook. Haven't installed it on a smartphone yet not sure to use my last install on that or the tablet- probably the later since it's used more often by my teen, on YouTube, downloading Apps, and etc..
